Taylor Fladgate Vintage 2016 Port

Deep purple black with a narrow magenta rim. High notes of pure, intense woodland fruit with lively accents of green apple, fresh plum and raspberry. Around this core of bright, singing fruit is a heady aura of gumcistus and wild herbs. On a deeper register, exotic notes of cedarwood and jasmine provide an additional dimension of complexity. The wine has an attractive leanness and muscularity with sinewy, linear tannins that integrate seamlessly into the mid palate and then re-emerge to hold the wine in a confident grip. Energised by a racy acidity, the intense berry flavors continue to build into the long finish. Although the keynotes are refinement and poise, the wine displays the restrained vigour and stamina that are the hallmarks of the Taylor Fladgate style.

OMG. This is really the most amazing young Taylor Fladgate I have ever tasted. Full-bodied and lightly sweet with super power and intensity. So racy and focused. Yet this has such muscle and intensity. Needs at least eight years to show you everything it has to offer. Drink in 2025.

PAIRING SUGGESTIONS

Walnuts, blue veined and other richly flavored cheeses are excellent accompaniments to Vintage Port; so too are dried fruits such as apricots or figs.

Black Stallion Transcendent Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Wine Maker Notes:

Deep garnet in hue, Transcendent Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine of depth, poise and elegance. It boasts exquisite aromas of black currant, pipe tobacco and violet, and a luxuriously textured, mouth filling palate defined by layers of ripe, mocha-inflected cassis, allspice and black fruit. Velvety, structured tannins frame the rich flavors, eventually yielding to a long and lingering finish.

Clean Slate Riesling

Insanely finessed & graceful with hints of white peach, nectarine, apricot, persimmon, green apple, and sweet lime. Perfect touch of ripe fruit, a delicate essence of river slate, and an awesome lip-licking, clean, pristine, light, drier, quenching finish

Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay

Barrel fermentation in new and seasoned French oak added toasty vanilla and spice complexities. During the twelve months of barrel aging, we regularly stirred the “lees” in barrel, which imparts an elegant fullness and creamy texture on the palate. In the glass, the wine is both creamy and crisp, with flavors of golden pear, vanilla, Meyer lemon and a hint of minerality on the long finish. Enjoy over the next one to three years with soft cheeses, fresh crab or roasted pork loin.

Fleur De Mer Rose

Cotes de Provence-A brilliant coral pink color, Fleur de Mer evokes aromas and flavors of fresh watermelon, cherry, subtle citrus, peach, lavender and Mediterranean herbs. It is medium-bodied, fresh and elegant with a soft texture and mineral finish. Balanced and refreshing acidity.

Day Owl Rose

California- Day Owl Rose radiates with floral red fruit and vibrant orange zest vibes. Lively acidity and a dry, elegant finish make for a bold bottle as alluring as the day is long. Pair with barbecued chicken, watermelon and mint salad, cold Thai sesame noodles, or fresh fish tacos.

Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color and displays aromas of lavender, cedar and raspberry fruit. Flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined with hints of savory spices coat the palate. The soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.

Plungerhead Petite Sirah

The Plungerhead Lodi Petite Sirah 2016 has a beautiful dark purple color that leaves a gentle trail of color after giving the glass a swirl. The aroma jumps out of the glass with notes of fig jam, ripe cherry and fresh blackberry as well as hints of vanilla and toasted coconut. Dark black fruit flavors are balanced with supple tannins, dark chocolate and espresso flavors that linger on and on. The finish has flavors of sandalwood, dried currants, and brambly fruit notes. It pairs very well with sliced skirt steak over garlic mashed potatoes and oven roasted carrots, sausage pizza with caramelized onions and topped with fresh arugula, or mushroom lasagna.

Gordon’s Cellar Selection Bodegas El Nido Clio

2013 BODEGAS EL NIDO CLIOIMG_2323
A stunning wine from the famous Juan Gil family estates in Jumilla Spain. Due to its bottle price of $49.99 this would be a lay down purchase or special occasion wine. Small production from low yields of old vine Monastrell (Mourvedre) and Cabernet Sauvignon from the southeastern town of Jumilla. The high altitude, arid climate, rocky soil, and very little rainfall of the region produce concentrated fruit that spends 24 months in new French and American oak barrels. This wine protrudes gobs of well integrated and balanced bold black cherry and vanilla flavors on the palate. Exuding fine and polished tannins. Enjoy now or cellar for another 10 years.
